Paedophile repeatedly raped and abused young girls

A paedophile who repeatedly raped and abused two young girls has been sentenced to a total of 19 years

Robert Charles Cobane (22/02/1976) of Painswick Road, Wythenshawe preyed on the girls, who were between the ages of 7 and 12, in the mid-2000s.

At Manchester Crown Court on Friday 9 November 2018 he was sentenced to 19 years in prison after being found guilty of:

• Three counts of rape of a child under 13-years-old

• Two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 by penetration.

Cobane raped one of the girls in the back of a van, as well as at a property in Wythenshawe.

He also abused them both in front of each other.

To keep their silence, Cobane threatened to kill one of the victims if she ever said anything about the abuse.

The court heard that the abuse took place over the course of several years.

In the years since the offences, the two victims spoke with each other and bravely decided to report it to police in August 2015.

Cobane will be required to register as a sex offender for life
