Judge Gareth Hawkesworth

Judge Gareth Hawkesworth – Ipswich Crown Court/Cambridge Crown Court

Here is Judge Gareth Hawkesworth. He is a judge who seems to think that the abuse of children is not a serious enough crime to warrant a custodial sentence. He fails to understand the long lasting impact these evil offences have on the young and vulnerable child survivors. The sentences are quite simply a insult to the victims involved.

Judge Gareth Hawkesworth you are hereby NAMED AND SHAMED !

Below are some examples and quotes of some of his more questionable judgements

2012 – A teenager who raped a five-year-old girl while babysitting her was spared a custodial sentence after judge Hawkesworth siad he had been ‘corrupted’ by internet pornography. The 14-year-old told his young victim to cover her eyes before performing an indecent act on her while he was supposed to be looking after her at her home. The boy who cannot be named for legal reasons pleaded guilty to raping a girl aged under 13 after the girl told her shocked father what had happened.

2011 – A judge has been criticised for failing to jail a pervert who groomed a 14-year-old girl for sex after ruling he was being ‘simply a young man’. Turon Ali, 26, groomed the schoolgirl by sending her explicit text messages and then arranged a secret meeting where he planned to abuse her. He was only prevented from sexually assaulting the girl when her older brother found one of the texts and alerted police. But Ali avoided jail at Cambridge Crown Court with a 12-month suspended sentence after a judge Hawkesworth ruled he was ‘not a paedophile as such’.

2008 – A PENSIONER who sexually groomed a 13-year-old boy has been spared a jail term. Kenneth Brown, 71, gave the boy condoms and tried to lure him into a camper van to show him porn material. When the 13-year-old’s worried father came to Brown’s house to investigate, the pensioner showed him a catalogue for porn DVDs which he kept in the van. Police found around 1,400 pornographic images of children video footage, taken by Brown from his camper van, of children playing on football pitches and beaches at Brown’s house in The Homing, Cambridge. Judge Gareth Hawkesworth ordered him to undergo a three-year supervision order.

2002 – AN IPSWICH grandfather John Howlett 65, of Lanercost way, who sexually abused a four-year-old girl and her sister has been jailed for just 9 months by Judge Hawkesworth. Ipswich Crown Court heard that Howlett kissed the girl and forced her to commit an indecent act.

2008 –  A STUDENT teacher has been banned from working with children for five years after he admitted committing an act of gross indecency with a pupil aged 14. Craig Beeden, 22, was working in his office at a village college in Cambridgeshire on December 13 last year when he was joined by the girl and carried out the act. Beeden was sentenced to a three-year supervision order by Judge Hawkesworth. The judge added “This was really a relationship forged in an atmosphere of mutual affection”

2010 – A MAN who posed as a 14-year-old girl called Gina on internet chat rooms and downloaded child porn has been spared jail. Phillip Grove, 59 yrs old pleaded guilty to 18 counts of possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children as young as four, but was handed a three month suspended sentence by Judge Hawkesworth

2004 – Sebastian Vince, 21 of James Street, Cambridge was found guilty of having sex with a girl of just 14 yrs old. Judge Hawkesworth ordered Vince to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and undergo two years’ community rehabilitation

2009 – A judge has freed a Cambridge University student found with abusive images of children on his computer, claiming sending him to prison would be a ‘cruel and pointless’ exercise. Judge Gareth Hawkesworth said that jailing the 21-year-old would see his studies ruined if he were jailed. Hammond had more than 1,000 child abuse images on his computer – some featuring babies just two days old. Five showed children being raped

2011 – A school teacher caught with a vile stash of images of young girls has avoided a jail sentence. Philip Scott, 44, was found with about 100 photographs and movies of underage children when police raided his home in Black Horse Drove, Littleport. Judge Gareth Hawkesworth sentenced Scott to an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years
