Background
Yvette Watson was 17 years old when she disappeared from the David Rice Hospital in Hellesdon near Norwich on 30 March 1979. Yvette was at that time a voluntary patient and had been due to leave the hospital to go home on 2 April 1979. Yvette lived in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
Yvette was described as being 5’6” tall of slight build with short dark brown hair and a fair complexion. Apart from an unconfirmed sighting of Yvette in Bull Close Road, Norwich on 2 April 1979, no sign of Yvette has been reported since.
Why has the case been looked at again?
The circumstances of Yvette’s disappearance have been the subject of regular review by Norfolk Constabulary since her disappearance. The cold case team has responded to information received over the past 2 years but this has not helped to establish what became of Yvette.

Yvette’s disappearance has been subject of media attention and has a possible link to the serial killer Peter Tobin who is known to have preyed on vulnerable young women.

However, the work carried out by the Cold Case team with Operation Anagram co-ordinated by Sussex and Strathclyde Police, has not proved any definite link with Tobin.
