Judge Christopher Critchlow

Here is Judge Christopher Critchlow. He is a judge who seems to think that the abuse of children is not a serious enough crime to warrant a custodial sentence. He fails to understand the long lasting impact these evil offences have on the young and vulnerable child survivors. The sentences are quite simply a insult to the victims involved.

October 2009: Father’s disgust at paedophile’s ‘lenient’ sentence

A FATHER has hit out after a Redhill paedophile described as a “serious risk to children” was let off with an 18-month jail sentence for a night-time sex attack on a schoolboy.

The 14-year-old victim was staying at Philip Hendra’s home when he woke up in the middle of the night to find the 59-year-old performing a sex act on him.

At the defendant’s home, police found a surveillance camera hidden above a shower rail in his bathroom and “extreme” indecent images of teenage boys stored on his computer. A probation report described him as posing a “high risk” of serious harm to children.

Judge Christopher Critchlow imposed the shorter sentence after hearing that the accused had pleaded guilty at the earliest possible opportunity and had never been in trouble with the law before.

A former teacher at Eton College who admitted downloading child abuse images has been spared a jail sentence. Ian McAuslan, 58 was arrested after the images were found when his school computer was handed in for an upgrade

Judge Critchlow said: “You have a fine record as a teacher and were clearly devoted to your profession. “I give you the full credit for that long service and all that you have done in that career. “It’s a tragedy for you and all who know you that your career should end this way.”
