Repeat domestic abuser has walked free from court

A repeat domestic abuser has walked free from court after sending a woman disturbing s*xual videos, including footage of her in the shower, and another of himself masturbating with a banana inserted

Robin Hay, 36, of Dysart, Fife, left the woman distressed when she woke to find two videos he had recorded on her phone.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard that the first video, sent in December 2025, showed the woman washing herself in the shower. The second showed Hay performing a s*xual act involving a banana.

The woman was so distressed after receiving and watching the recordings that police were contacted.

Hay pleaded guilty to causing the woman to look at a s*xual image and a recording. Prosecutors accepted his not-guilty pleas to separate charges of voyeurism and sharing an indecent image on WhatsApp.

The court heard that Hay had previous convictions for assault to injury, abusive behaviour and breaching bail conditions in a domestic setting.

Despite his record, Sheriff Nigel Cooke chose an alternative to custody. Hay was placed under supervision and on the s*x offenders register for 12 months, and ordered to complete 135 hours of unpaid work.
