Here is Ex Judge David Selwood. He is a judge who seems to think that the abuse of children is not a serious enough crime to warrant a custodial sentence. He fails to understand the long lasting impact these evil offences have on the young and vulnerable child survivors. The sentences are quite simply a insult to the victims involved. BUT the difference between this judge and others is he was also convicted of child sexual offences himself. Here we look at HIS sentence and that of others he handed out

Judge David Selwood you are hereby NAMED AND SHAMED !

In July 2004, Former Crown Court judge David Selwood, of Winchester admitted a string of child abuse image offences. He walked free from court after he was given a 12 month rehabilitation order

He was charged after police found 75 images of naked and semi-naked boys aged between eight and 14 on his laptop computer. Selwood retired on health grounds with a pension of £33,000 a year, and a lump sum of £74,250. Selwood told the court he had no sexual interest in children

A spokesman for the Department of Constitutional Affairs said that Judge Selwood would be entitled to a full pension

Now lets look at some of the sentences HE handed down to other paedophiles BEFORE he was caught!

March 2001: A paedophile who warned authorities he might re-offend if freed from prison has been released back into the community

Judge David Selwood sentenced Wyer, who had been held at Broadmoor psychiatric hospital since January 2000, to two years’ probation. Andrew Wyer, who was banned from even speaking to any child under 14 was set free. 

Wyer, of Southsea, Hampshire, has convictions for indecently assaulting a two-and-a-half-month- old baby and a boy of three. The court heard that only months after the court order was imposed, he began cultivating potential victims. He won the trust of a father of three children, aged ten, 12 and 14

In 2004, Judge Selwood gave a conditional discharge to a world authority on child abuse who had pleaded guilty to downloading child abuse images. He described Professor Christopher Bagley, of Sutton, Surrey, as “naive” for accessing the indecent images

September 2002: Although jailing Mark Brown, 35 for sexually abusing a 14 year old girl, Judge Selwood went on to blame offenders paedophilic behaviour on being deaf

Judge David Selwood said Brown’s severe deafness had contributed to the offences. ‘From what I understand, you have a naivety in sexual matters and because you are severely deaf you have not learned through social integration the normal boundaries of sexual behaviour.’
