Pervert sentenced for child sexual offences

A pervert has been sentenced after grooming and then abusing a schoolgirl

Michael Watson, 58 of Kippax, Leeds appeared at Leeds Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to:

• Sexual activity with a chid 

• Causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity

The court was told that Watson began grooming the girl when she was 11. He gained her trust and within two years, began to abuse her sexually. 

The abuse continued for a further three years ending when the victim was 16.

The judge sentenced Watson to six years in prison and he was told to register as a sex offender for life.

A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed to restrict his contact with any child.
