Clydebank pervert found guilty of sexually assaulting four girls as they slept

A pervert has been convicted of sexually assaulting three young girls as they slept in Clydebank.

Steven Hainan, 32, was found guilty by a jury at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week after evidence of a string of offences against the girls.

A fourth girl was attacked in Kilmarnock, where Hainan lives, in 2018.

On a date between July 2006 and December 2009, at an address in Faifley, Hainan used lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviours towards a girl, then aged between 12 and 16.

He went into her bedroom while sleeping, pulled down her bedclothes, pulled up her clothing, and touched her breast.

On another occasion, at the same property, he again used lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour to a girl then aged between 13 and 16. He entered her room where she was sleeping, pulled down the bedclothes and touched her buttock.

The third victim, who was aged between eight and 13, was attacked on various occasions. Hainan sexually assaulted her, seized hold of her, touched her breasts, buttocks and legs. And on another occasion, while she was sleeping, knelt beside the bed and inserted his hand into her clothing and touched her private parts.

And the fourth victim, on an occasion in September 2018 at a property in Kilmarnock, was sexually assaulted when she was then 13. He touched her body over her clothing, kissed her on the lips and on the cheek, pursued her, and while she lay on the couch trying to sleep, placed his hand inside her jumper and touched her waist.

A fifth charge, of sexually assaulting the third victim when she was 13, was dropped by the Crown before the case concluded.

The jury convicted Hainan of the other four charges by a majority and Sheriff Maxwell Hendry adjourned the case for reports until November 17.

Hainan remains free on bail until then and he is subject to the interim notification requirements of the sex offenders register.
