Stoke-on-Trent child rapist, 60, warned he faces years in jail

Child rapist Paul Clutton has been warned he faces years behind bars.

The 60-year-old has always denied three charges of rape and three charges of indecent assault and was on trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

But he was convicted of all six charges by a jury.

Judge Sally Hancox told Clutton, of London Road, Trent Vale, that he had committed ‘appalling sexual offences’.

She said: “The only type of sentence will be immediate custody. That will be measured in years. Because of the nature of your offending you will also be registered as a sex offender indefinitely.”

Staffordshire Police have revealed that the offences were committed for more than a decade from the early 1990s.

Clutton was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on October 7.
