Mark Aspin and Debbie Pickersgill sentenced to total of 30 years

Mark Aspin and Debbie Pickersgill have been sentenced to a total of 30 years for a huge number of sickening sex crimes against children.

Aspin will serve 27 years while Pickersgill will serve three

On Friday, December 4, Aspin, 44, of Endeavour Crescent, was found guilty of 22 offences following a trial at Grimsby Crown Court.

These were:

– Two counts of child cruelty

– One count of sexual activity with a child

– Two counts of rape of a child under the age of 13

– Seven counts of rape of a child under the age of 16

– Six counts of rape of a child over the age of 16

– One count of attempted rape

– Three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity

He had already pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child.

His partner, Debbie Pickersgill, 46, of Buckingham Street, was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child.

She was found not guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child as the jury found she was under duress from Aspin at the time of the incident.

During the trial, the court heard how sick paedophile Aspin groomed and abused three teenage girls.

One told how she was just 11 when she was first raped by Aspin and two others said they were 13.

As well as carrying out the violent rapes, Aspin also roped in Pickersgill to participate in group sex with two of his young victims.

In one incident, the paedophile raped a girl until she passed out while his partner watched

The couple kept their dark and evil secret from the outside world, with their crimes only coming to light in April this year when two of the victims reported them to police.

They have been sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court this afternoon by Judge Ahmed Nadim.

The judge said: “The victims can hold their heads high in the knowledge that their statements have been taken into account and have profoundly influenced the sentencing approach of the court.”

Mark Aspin jailed for 27 years ——

He said: “To reflect you have utterly blighted the childhoods of three girls, the after effects that continue to be felt and will be felt after today while healing takes place.”

Judge Nadim said: “You will serve at least 13 and a half years in prison before the reference to the Parole Board takes place.

“At whatever point you are released, you will then serve the remainder of the custodial sentence and a licence period of one year under the probation service.”

Pickersgill jailed for three years ——

The judge said: “You must serve 18 months in custody, less any time you have served on remand.”

The judge said: “You joined in the sexual activity you were asked to engage in for his pleasure.

“The starting point is four years imprisonment but that is in relation to a single offence. In your case I am dealing with five such incidents.

“The least sentence that is appropriate for your behaviour is six years in custody. I must consider the facts that mitigate your offending. The prosecution accepted the case on the basis that you were subjected to the kind of violence that would ordinarily come under duress.

“You were convicted upon the jury concluding that you failed to report matters to persons in authority or in your life who would have helped you to disengage from the situation you found yourself in.

“The situation does not rest there. I note that you were entirely honest with the jury in terms of what you know or knew of at the time and you declared all, even though some of that evidence served to undermine your particular position.

“Your evidence provided a clear picture of the events that were taking place during the period while your partner was abusing three children. That serves to mitigate your sentence.”

Depraved Hull couple found guilty of child sex offences

A Hull paedophile who raped a girl until she passed out while his partner watched has been found guilty of a series of horrific child sex offences.

Mark Aspin, 44, of Endeavour Crescent, had already pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child but denied all other counts which included rape, attempted rape and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The jury sitting in on the near two-week trial at Grimsby Crown Court took just 24 hours to find Aspin guilty of:

  • Two counts of child cruelty

One count of sexual activity with a child

Two counts of rape of a child under the age of 13

Seven counts of rape of a child under the age of 16

Six counts of rape of a child over the age of 16

    One count of attempted rape

Three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity

During the trial, Aspin lied and told the jury that although he accepted he did have sexual intercourse and group sex with two of the alleged victims alongside his partner Debbie Pickersgill, 46, of Buckingham Street, he said that did not happen until both girls were 16.

All three victims gave evidence during the harrowing trial and told how they were violently raped by Aspin against a horrific background of violence.

One victim said she was just 11 when Aspin raped her, and two others said they were targeted and raped when they were 13.

During the course of the trial, the jury watched CCTV footage showing Aspin apparently “hypnotising” one of the victims and making her dance and pose like a model.

Prosecutors said this was a grooming technique used by Aspin, although he said was a “real hypnotist”.

Aspin claimed that he fell in love with one of the girls, even going as far to father her child, but says he only engaged in sexual activity with the second girl to “benefit” her as she “felt ugly.”

Pickersgill and Aspin both accept that they took part in group sex sessions with both alleged victims

His partner Pickersgill has been found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child.

Pickersgill claimed she was “under duress” and “forced” to take part in group sex with Aspin and underage girls as she felt she would be beaten or killed.

However, prosecutors said she had ample opportunity to report the violence and sexual abuse carried out by Aspin.

Both Aspin and Pickersgill will be sentenced at a later date.

Jayne Sewell – Cardiff

November 2020: Now living in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan

November 2020

Former dinner lady sent sexual messages to young boy

A former nurse offered a schoolboy oral sex and boasted about the sexual activities she had engaged in with other people, a court has heard.

Jayne Helen Sewell sent a series of “graphic” text messages to the boy, and said she would like it if he spanked her on the bum.

A recorder described the 52-year-old as a “predator”, and said had the woman met the boy in person it could have resulted in her sexually abusing him.

Cardiff Crown Court heard Sewell sent the schoolboy – who has legal anonymity – a series of messages on Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

Jeffrey Jones, prosecuting, said the texts sent by the defendant were “clearly sexually graphic” and were aimed at “seducing” the boy.

There was also evidence Sewell – who worked in a school after leaving nursing – had sent the youngster a photograph of her breasts, though the image itself has not been recovered.

The court heard that in the messages the defendant offered the boy oral sex and mutual masturbation, and said she would like it if he spanked her bum. There was also talk of the pair being “horny”.

Mr Jones said the “clandestine sexual chat” came to an end when the schoolboy’s mother found a message on his phone, and raised the alarm

Sewell, formerly of St Mellons, Cardiff, but now of Shelburn Close, Grangetown, Cardiff, had previously pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child under 16 when she appeared in the dock for sentencing. She has no previous convictions.

Thomas Roberts, for Sewell, said the defendant had lost her job, husband, and home as a result of what she accepted were her “abhorrent” actions.

Recorder Paul Lewis QC told Sewell that the messaging with the boy had been “wholly inappropriate”, and that she had been entirely to blame for it.

He said the defendant had been motivated by sexual excitement and, had the pair met, it could have resulted in the sexual abuse of the boy.

The recorder said: “Children have to be protected from predatory adults, and that is what I regard you as – a predatory adult.”

Recorder Lewis said the offending clearly crossed the custody threshold, and the only question for him was whether the sentence had to be served immediately.

Giving the defendant a one-third credit for his guilty plea the recorder sentenced her to eight months in prison suspended for two year, and ordered her to complete a community sex offenders programme.

The defendant will be a registered sex offender for five years, and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same length of time to control her access to boys aged under 16.

Recorder Lewis told her she had avoided going straight to prison by a “hair’s breadth”.

October 2020

Tyneside woman convicted of indecent images caught contacting schoolgirl on Instagram

A woman banned from communicating with children after being caught with indecent images of kids had forbidden Instagram chats with a 14-year-old girl.

Rachel Smith was subject to a sexual harm prevention order imposed in 2018 as part of her punishment for having child abuse images.

But when police went to check on her, an officer who examined her phone found messages between Smith and what turned out to be a child.

Newcastle Crown Court heard Smith had been warned of her age by a relative but continued to communicate with her.

The 56-year-old, of Brinkburn Street, East Howdon, North Tyneside, pleaded guilty to breaching the sexual harm prevention order and was sentenced to a three year community order.

Amy Levitt, prosecuting, said Smith was sentenced to six months suspended for two years in 2018 for the indecent images offences and was made subject to the sexual harm prevention order for ten years.

In July this year, police went to her home to do a risk review.

Miss Levitt said: “They asked to look at her mobile phone and when searching on it they discovered messages on Instagram between the defendant and a female who appeared young from her images.

“They were in regular communication and discussed the girl’s days at school.

“Some of the messages referenced the female fancying the defendant and her school teacher.

Miss Levitt added: “She said she believed the girl was 18 but her aunt contacted her to say stop communicating with her as she was only 14.

“So she had been told to stop talking to the female and did not.”

The court heard Smith has a conviction for indecent assault from 1994 among 50 previous convictions.

Judge Robert Spragg said that she would be “vulnerable and easily exploited” if sent to prison and that the public would be better served by a lengthy community order.

Gemma McFee – Barry

September 2020

Nursery worker ‘sat on twin babies’ to make money for holiday

A former nursery assistant who sat on 16 month-old twins while videoing her actions to make money for a holiday was shown mercy by a sheriff, it can now be revealed.

Gemma McFee was spared jail because she had been “naive” and was “manipulated and exploited” by a man with a fetish for women sitting on babies.

McFee, now 28, sent seven separate video clips to RAF serviceman Andew Kerr, who recruited her through Facebook.

McFee, who was 25 and unemployed at the time of the offences, had wept openly in the dock as the video clips showing her placing a cushion on the 16-month-old twin babies and repeatedly sitting and putting her weight on them were played in court.

The boy and girl could be seen in severe discomfort, crying and struggling to breathe at times as she applied “significant” pressure.

Prosecutor Kirsten Letford said Kerr, who had posed as a film stuntman, had initially paid McFee to stand on him, under the guise of it being for a film.

Mrs Letford said: “He then incited her to sit on the babies for payment and from the conversation between them she was a willing participant, for financial gain.

“He gave her detailed instructions and asked her to send him recordings of the assaults. She would be paid for the clips.”

Facebook conversations Kerr had with the accused were read out in court.

On June 18, 2018 Kerr stated: “You can do it on the floor but usually easier to start on the bed or sofa, that way you can apply your full weight.”

He also suggested that she smother the babies, and that she sit on their heads.

Mrs Letford said: “When it is clear she is motivated by financial gain he tells her that the higher quality the clips were the bigger the financial gain would be for her, adding that she needed to cover more of the child and put more weight on them.

“At the time of these assaults, bank statements show she was experiencing some financial difficulties.

“Throughout the conversation, she continually asks questions about how much money she would receive for making the video clips.

“At one stage when asked to make another video she stated, ‘Yeah will do. I’m due a holiday so let’s see if I can make as much as possible’.”

In one conversation McFee told Kerr: “He really really didn’t like that last one. I’ll have to stop and give him a breather.”

The video clips, ranging from four to forty seconds in length, were played in court, showing the accused sitting on the bodies of the children and the head of one of them, placing varying degrees of body weight on them.

One clip showed her kneeling in front of one of the babies and thrusting her buttocks backwards towards the child, while a still photograph showed her sitting on one of the babies.

The videos showed McFee increasing the weight on the children by placing a cushion on top of their bodies — and in one clip on a child’s head — and sitting on the cushion.

Mrs Letford said: “Each of the children appeared to be laughing and giggling at the beginning, however as she places more body weight onto them they become extremely distressed, crying out and attempting to escape from underneath her.”

She was sentenced to 200 hours community service, placed on a restriction of liberty order for eight months, and under social work supervision for three years.

Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown also ordered banned her from having any contact with any child under 17.

The sentence was handed down at Dundee Sheriff Court last November (2019), but any mention of the case was banned until the resolution of proceedings against Kerr.

McFee, a mother-of-two, of Barry, Angus, pleaded guilty in October 2019 to assaulting the twins, a boy and a girl, who cannot be identified, to the danger of their lives, at a house in Arbroath, in June 2018.

Kerr, 35, has pleaded guilty to inciting McFee to commit the offences.

He also admitted attempting to incite a woman in Elgin to assault a child by sitting and standing on them, and possessing child abuse images at addresses including RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

Sentence on Kerr was deferred for social workers to study a report on him by a psychosexual therapist.

Dealing with McFee, Sheriff Martin-Brown said it was her view that a non-custodial sentence would achieve the purposes of punishment and societal disapproval as well as give an opportunity for “effective rehabilitation”.

Female teaching assistant, 28, groomed boy for sex after plying him with booze and cocaine

A teaching assistant who groomed a 15-year-old pupil for sexual intercourse at a hotel after plying him with cocaine and alcohol has been jailed for two years and eight months

Kellie Louise Smith, 28, of Nuneaton began grooming the schoolboy by giving him sweets before showering him with “extra attention” at his school in Coventry.

A court heard the pair were seen at a Holiday Inn Express after they had shared “flirty banter” about her bottom on the school minibus together.

Smith bought the youngster cannabis, cocaine and booze before bedding him in the early hours of March 29 last year.

Smith, who had taught at the school for three years, was suspended and later sacked over the sexual grooming allegations

She was arrested after the schoolboy’s DNA was found on her underwear and CCTV showed her and the boy together at the hotel in Nuneaton

The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted having sexual intercourse with Smith on two occasions and that he thought she was “fit”.

Smith pleaded guilty to two offences of sexual activity with a child under 16 at Warwick Crown Court.

Wearing a white blouse and black trousers, she wept in the dock and dabbed her eyes with a tissue as the case was outlined against her.

Rebecca Ward, prosecuting, said: “In the events leading up to March, the victim felt the defendant had been giving him more attention.

“She would bring him sweets and only gave them to him.

“He was on the minibus when she was driving and he said there was ‘flirty banter’ between them. She overheard he and a friend were talking about her bottom.

“He asked for her number and she put it in his phone. He phoned her the next day and she picked him up to give him a lift to Coventry.

“They were driving around Nuneaton. They stopped a petrol station where she bought him Rizla.

“He told his friends that she was ‘fit’ and that they already had sex in her car.

“Those in the car described her driving as erratic and she had been drinking alcohol. They stopped to smoke cannabis.

“They drove to Coventry where they collected cocaine. She took it in their presence and she tested positive after her arrest.”

The court then heard the pair stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Nuneaton and had penetrative sex.

Ms Ward added: “They drank alcohol the defendant had bought, vodka and Stella Artois lager, and they had penetrative sex, without a condom.

“He indicated he was not forced to have sex and he consented to the activity. He was dropped off and has not seen her since.”

The following morning the victim’s mum reported him missing and he later returned and gave an account to the police.

Ms Ward said: “CCTV was obtained from the hotel of them at the desk together with the victim’s DNA found in the knickers.

“The victim said he felt guilty at the time and felt as if he had done something wrong. He said he was not spiteful and he knew she would get in trouble.

“He said ‘I feel the teachers are giving me dirty looks and I don’t want to go. I want this all over with and want it finished.’

“The defendant ceases to work at the school.”
