Sentence has been further deferred on a Summerlee man who defied a court order for subsequently breaching his community payback order punishment.

Mark O’Rourke was subject to a sexual offences prevention order which ordered him to remain in his Melrose Place home for a 12-hour period each day.

The 20-year-old breached the order on June 18 last year when he left his house and was found by police officers on Crichton Street, Coatbridge, at 2am.

He pled guilty on June 6 and was sentenced to a community payback order which included unpaid work at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

But O’Rourke found himself back in the dock last Wednesday after admitting a breach of the order.

The court heard that O’Rourke had been unable to complete his hours of unpaid work after being remanded in custody relating to another offence.

Sheriff Nikola Stewart then further deferred O’Rourke’s sentencing until November 25 while awaiting the outcome of other matters, and suspended his community payback order in the meantime.
