A “depraved” RAF bandsman who played in front of Royalty has been jailed for nine years after being convicted of bondage sex with a Lincolnshire schoolgirl.
Sergeant Mark Naylor, a saxophonist based at RAF Cranwell, performed at concerts all over the world with the Band of the Royal Air Force and the RAF Regiment Band.
But Lincoln Crown Court heard his 25-year-long career was in ruins after he was jailed for 14 sex offences committed on the same girl.
Judge Michael Heath told him: “You are obsessed with sex. What you did was depraved and despicable.
“You groomed her and then used her to satisfy your sexual desires.
“Only time will tell what psychological harm you have caused. What is absolutely clear is that you have ruined the start of her teenage years.
“You are a selfish, sex obsessed, dominating, arrogant and manipulative individual.
“You used this girl as a sexual plaything.”
Mark Van der Zwart, prosecuting, said the girl had been driven to the brink of suicide as a result of what happened to her.
At one stage she believed she was pregnant, but it proved to be a false alarm.
The 14-year-old girl told a jury how he performed a string of sex acts on her and bought her vibrators which he persuaded her to use while they were together.
“She speaks of being full of tears, depression and hurt,” he said.
Naylor, 43, formerly of Primrose Close ,RAF Cranwell, was convicted of the offences at a trial earlier this month.
Naylor had denied 14 charges of sexual activity with a child during 2006 and 2007.
