Muhammed Khalid convicted of r*pe after airport arrest

Muhammed Khalid, 55, of Huddersfield, was found guilty of five r*pes and a s*xual assault against a teenage girl following a seven-day trial at Leeds Crown Court.

He was also convicted of supplying Class A drugs to a second teenage girl on two occasions in 2005.

The eight offences spanned 2003 to 2006 in Kirklees.

Khalid left the country in 2020 while detectives investigated s*xual offences. Police continued searching for him and arrested him when he returned through Manchester Airport on 23 April 2026.

DCI Phil Davis described the abuse as appalling and praised the courage of both survivors. Khalid is due to be sentenced on 24 November 2026.
