A father of two who had more than 12,000 images of extreme pornography on his computer has been jailed for two years.
Anthony Robinson had nearly 20,000 indecent images of children ranging from category one to category five, the most serious.
The 49-year-old from Hadfield was told by a judge that he had demonstrated a ‘perverted sexual interest’ in children. The court heard on Thursday that Robinson came to the attention of the police in last year.
When officers examined the computer they took from his home in Station Road they found five hard drives containing the indecent images.
Prosecutor Sherrall Pickford said: “They contained a mixture of images across all categories. Some of them contained some extreme pornographic images.”
She told the court that evidence was found of downloading and distributing images to 10 other users.
Miss Pickford added that when Robinson was interviewed by police, he admitted that what he had done was ‘totally perverted’ and he was ‘disgusted’.
Defending, Anthony Morris said: “It is reasonable to say he didn’t look at all of the images.
Many of them stayed on the hard drive and were not viewed by him. “His true culpability doesn’t extend to an active involvement. “There is nothing in his behaviour that would lead one to suppose he was going to take these matters further.
“There is little or no likelihood of him committing further offences.” But Robinson, a married man with two small children, was told by Judge John Wait: “Anyone who collates and distributes images of children is actively encouraging the appalling trade of the use of children in this way.
Anyone who collates as many as you did demonstrates a perverted sexual interest in children. “Those like you with this interest in downloading play a part in the trade, distribution and exchange through message services and elsewhere.
This is so serious that only a substantial custody sentence can follow.”
Robinson had admitted five charges of making indecent photographs of children, one of having an indecent photo of a child and three of distributing indecent photos of children.
He also pleaded guilty at Derby Crown Court to one offence of possession of extreme pornographic images.
