Trucker made indecent images

A paedophile with a history of taking indecent pictures of boys and girls has been found guilty of having similar images on his computer.

Jurors at Oxford Crown Court yesterday took just over half an hour to find Timothy Newman, of Oakley Wood, Benson, guilty of six charges of making the images, which were found on the hard drive of his computer.

Newman, 37, a lorry driver, has previous convictions for the same offence, as well for indecent assault on a male aged under 14, and indecency with a child.

Police found the images on the computer after a raid on his home.

They included ones of Newman engaged in sexual acts with an 11-year-old girl, taken from a video he had made, for which he has already been charged and sentenced. The images were found in the folder of a “Trojan” computer virus, which the defence said could have been planted on the machine by a computer hacker.

Newman suggested his wife, or one of her friends, could have planted the images in his computer.

But Neil Moore, prosecuting, said any hacker would also have had to have found the video tape, which was kept in Newman’s house, to transfer the images to the computer.
