Items removed from abuser’s home

Police searching the former home of a convicted paedophile as part of an ongoing investigation have removed a number of items for forensic tests.

Dennis Green, 68, was jailed last year for indecently assaulting a 13-year-old girl at his home in Northumberland.

Last year, at Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Tony Lancaster told Green: “Your actions caused her to be traumatised and to attempt to take her own life and there is no doubt she has been psychologicallydamaged, at least beyond her childhood years.”

It is believed the girl, who is now 15, recently claimed she had given birth to a baby.

Earlier this week officers conducted a detailed search of the garden and house in Stakeford, which have now ended.

A police spokesman said certain items had been sent for forensic examination, which may take up to two months.

In March last year at Newcastle Crown Court, Green admitted attempting to have unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl and two specimen charges of indecent assault.

The widower, who was jailed for four-and-a-half years, also pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs of a child.
