A paedophile last seen in Aberdeen has been arrested by police in London.
Derek Robertson, 46, was convicted of indecent assault at Forfar High Court in December 2003 and sentenced to 54 months’ imprisonment.
Grampian Police said he was last seen in Aberdeen on February 24. He was arrested on Thursday after he was alleged to have failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements and will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on his return.
When he was sentenced in 2003 the court was told of a “nasty and degrading” attack on a teenage girl during which he was forced to jump from the first-floor balcony of an Aberdeen flat to escape her father.
Mr Robertson was found guilty at Forfar Sherriff Court of the indecent assault of his friend’s daughter. He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. In March 2011 he sparked a national manhunt after he disappeared from a hostel he was staying in. Later that month he was arrested in London and returned to Aberdeen where he pled guilty to failing to abide by the conditions of his release and jailed for four months.
In 2009 Robertson was arrested in November after disappearing from Scotland seven months earlier.
