Convicted paedophile apprehended by paedo hunting team
Today, the UK database were in Falmouth to apprehend an already convicted paedophile who had been speaking sexually to girls he believed were under 16.
Philip Trevena had contacted the online profile of a 14 year old schoolgirl. From the beginning, he sent sexually explicit messages with the clear intent of engaging the girl into sexual activity.
Trevena arranged several meets but pulled out at the last moment giving a range of excuses.
Trevena openly admitted speaking to our decoy but denied any further contact with any other girls. However, since the live went out, another decoy from another team has come forward.
All evidence was handed to police who were excellent for the arrest.
As per any offender, the team looked into Trevena’s background and found a conviction for him on the UK database website
In 2008, he was convicted of five offences of indecent assault and indecency with a child and was sentenced to four years imprisonment. All the offences related to his grand-daughter.
A very big well done to the UK database team for a excellent sting and of course to Leah Decoy for the excellent chatlog that secured his arrest.
Jailed for four years
A Penryn man who admitted five offences of indecent assault and indecency with a child was jailed for nearly four years at Truro Crown Court on Monday.
Judge Paul Darlow told Philip Trevena, 68, of Greenwood Road, that he must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and is banned from working with children indefinitely.
“Your pleas of guilty at least spared the three victims the indignity of having to give evidence before a jury,” he said. “There is nothing of relevance recorded against you and otherwise you are a responsible member of the community.”
