Simon Slater jailed for raping teenager who told him to stop

Simon Matthew Slater, 30, of Redruth, has been jailed for five years after raping a 17-year-old boy who withdrew his consent and asked him to stop.

The two had met through a dating app. Although their encounter began consensually, Slater ignored the teenager’s pleas during the attack in mid-Cornwall in July 2023.

The victim reported Slater to Devon and Cornwall Police. A jury convicted him at Truro Crown Court in August 2026. At sentencing on 15 October, the court heard the attack had profoundly affected the young man’s life and his ability to trust others.

Slater was sentenced to five years in prison. He was placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to a 10-year restraining order banning contact with his victim.
