St Albans man jailed after pleading guilty to having sex with 13-year-old girl

A MAN from St Albans was sentenced to more than two years in prison this week after admitting to having sex with a “vulnerable” 13-year-old girl.

John Reid, 20, from Radlett Road, who was aged 19 at the time of the offence, was charged with sexual activity with a child. The incident occured on November 1, 2010 at an address in St Albans.

John, who was jailed for two years and three months, has also been placed on the sex offenders register for ten years and has been given a sexual offences prevention order stopping him from having any contact with children.

PC Liz Heath from the sexual offences investigation unit said: “This man took advantage of a child who was in a vulnerable state and I am pleased that he has been given a prison sentence.

“It takes real courage for victims of these types of offences to come forward but I hope that this sentence shows that we will investigate these crimes and bring those responsible to justice.”
