Paedophile jailed for 25 years over string of sex attacks on girls

A “calculating” paedophile who carried out a string of sexual attacks on a number of girls over decades has been jailed for 25 years.

Thomas Watkinson took advantage of the vulnerable girls at a number of addresses in Nottingham during the 1990s and 2000s, police said.

The 60-year-old was arrested in 2019 after several allegations were made against him.

He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday.

Watkinson, of Recreation Drive in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, was found guilty by a jury of seven counts of gross indecency with a child under the age of 14 and seven counts of indecent assault against a child under 14.

Nottinghamshire Police said Watkinson denied that any of the offences had happened and claimed his accusers were making them up.

Pervert carried out sex act with muffin before offering it to girl

This disgusting Derbyshire pervert carried out a sex act with a muffin and then offered it to a girl.

Derby Crown Court heard how Neil Brown offered the cake to the victim after he committed the obscene act.

She initially accepted his gesture, not realising what the 40-year-old had done.

But after he went, she opened up the cake and that’s when she discovered his vulgar behaviour.

The hearing was told that Brown has lost his job as a result of the firm he worked at for the past 15 years finding out about his arrest.

Now he has been handed a 10-month jail term, suspended for 18 months, after pleading guilty to sexual activity in the presence of a child.

In a victim impact statement, read to the court, the girl said: “I feel sick at the thought of what I could have bitten into.

“When I go out for meals I get nervous and when I eat I sometimes feel sick.

“At first it did affect my school work but I have got better now time has gone on.”

Gurdial Singh, prosecuting, said the offence took place on the evening on November 25, 2017.

He said Brown offered the girl the muffin, she accepted, and when she looked inside it she saw the contents.

Mr Singh said the victim called her mother who took the cake to a police station.

Brown, who has no previous convictions, was arrested. The court heard he admitted what he had done during his police interview.

As part of his suspended sentence Brown, of Archdale Close, Chesterfield, was ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work and to attend 30 rehabilitation sessions with the probation service.

He was also placed on the sex offender’s register for 10 years and handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Fletcher said: “What you did was reprehensible.

“It is a situation where you have lost your job because of what you did and you will find it extremely difficult to find another one with this conviction.

“Your probation report concludes that you do not pose a risk to the general public and there is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.

“All of these factors lead me to conclude that your prison sentence can be suspended.”

Shamed Derbyshire paedophile seeks help from sex therapist

A Derbyshire paedophile who had more than 35,000 vile child abuse images on a USB stick went to his GP and a sex therapist after being arrested.

Police made the shocking discovery when they received what the prosecution called “a tip-off from a reliable source” as to what Adam Hurst had been doing and raided his home.

Derby Crown Court heard how the 26-year-old saw viewing the sick photographs and videos as “just ordinary adult pornography” and that he also shared two of the pictures with a fellow like-minded warped pervert.

Jailing him for a year, suspended for two years, Recorder Balraj Bhattia QC said: “I hope you genuinely understand your actions have directly contributed to the victimisation and sexual abuse of young children?

“People like you allow this awful trade to continue.

“These are young children who have been exploited and traumatised for (other people’s) sexual gratification.

“These images tell a story and you have described (in reports prepared for the court) how you treated it as ‘just ordinary adult pornography’.

“It is not, but rarely have I read reports on someone who has shown such a real determination to address their offending.

“Every time you do unpaid work I want you to think about why you are there because you spent more than 200 hours viewing these images.”

Jeremy Janes, prosecuting, said the offending took place between 2015 and March 2020 when Derbyshire police executed a warrant at Hurst’s address.

He said devices were seized and on a USB stick were 244 category A images which typically show young children engaged in sex acts with adults.

Mr Janes said there were 256 category B and more than 35,000 category C images.

He said also found were 72 prohibited items and two extreme pornographic images.

Mr Janes said: “There was also evidence he had distributed two category C images over Skype to another user back in 2018.”

Hurst, of Emmet Carr Lane, Renishaw, north Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of indecent images and one count of distribution.

He also admitted possession of prohibited and extreme pornographic images.

As part of the suspended sentence Recorder Bhattia ordered the defendant to attend 45 rehabilitation days and a 43-day programme.

He also ordered Hurst to carry out 200 hours unpaid work and handed him a sexual harm prevention order.

Chesterfield sex offender jailed for raping two young children

A calculating and predatory sex offender who raped two young children has been jailed after an exhaustive police investigation.

Christopher Wright committed the offences between ten and 15 years ago when he abused two boys at addresses in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

His offending, which started when he was a teenager, came to light when one of his victims came forward to report a historic allegation of abuse.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s public protection team launched an investigation in summer 2017 and interviewed multiple witnesses.

Wright, 29, formerly of Clay Cross, Chesterfield, initially denied all allegations against him but later admitted to one count of rape of a child under the age of 13 — an offence committed when he was still a child.

He denied all other allegations but was later convicted by a jury of four additional counts of the same offence relating to a second victim.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, Wright was jailed for 16 years.

He was also added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order that will tightly restrict his activities when he is released.

June 2021

Derby pervert who shared indecent images of children and animals sentenced

A man who shared indecent images of children as young as four has been placed on the Sex Offender Register for five years.

Christopher Gee, of Rupert Road, Chaddesden, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of making or possessing indecent images of children, one count of distributing indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images

Gee, who had no previous convictions, was found with two category B images and 37 category C images, with category C being the least serious banding. He distributed three of these and was found with three images of animal pornography.

The images involving children depicted girls aged between four and 10 years of age.

As well as being placed on the register, Gee was given a five-year sexual harm protection order which prevents him from staying at any premises where there are children under the age of 16, having any contact with females under the age of 16 and means he must report any electronic devices to police within three days.

He was also given an 18-month community order, 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and told to do 100 hours of unpaid work.

Sentencing at Derby Crown Court, Judge Shaun Smith QC said that while he acknowledged Gee’s personal difficulties, that was no excuse for his offending.

Police arrested the 42-year-old on 5 May 2020 after he uploaded images from January to March, having been able to find him through the IP address linking to his family home.

Lisa Hardy, prosecuting, said that Gee had connected with people through the messaging platform, Kik.

Following his arrest he claimed that he was sent the images and “denied that he got gratification from what he received” before changing his story and pleading guilty.

Representing himself, Gee, who was unable to attend court due to illness, expressed remorse for his actions.
