Paedophile caught with nearly 25,000 indecent images jailed

A paedophile who was caught with nearly 25,000 indecent images and sent vile material over social media has been jailed.

Samuel Lewis, from Grappenhall, was handed two years behind bars at Chester Crown Court, having admitted distributing indecent images, three counts of making indecent images and two charges of possession of indecent images during an earlier hearing.

The 33-year-old was caught a total of 23,978 images showing abuse of children during a police raid 

Of these, 1,634 of the pictures were described as being category A images depicting the most serious forms of rape, sexual abuse or torture against children

Lewis, of Stockport Road, was also found to have shared an image via the Kik messaging service

Recorder Ian Harris also handed the defendant a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and a notification requirement lasting the same period.

The forfeiture and destruction of several seized devices – namely a computer, five hard drives, a tablet, an iPad Air and two Samsung mobile phones – was also ordered.
