Jail for Northampton man with history of ‘despicable’ sex offences against young girls

A Northampton man has been jailed for a series of “despicable” sexual offences against young girls.

Terence Maxted, of Lockwood Close, Kingsthorpe, committed dozens of acts of indecent assault and inappropriate touching against three girls in the 60s, 80s and mid-2010s, when all of his victims were then under 16.

Northampton Crown Court heard yesterday (August 29) how the 70-year-old told his victims what was happening was a game.

All three victims separately told the police how Maxted would take advantage of “any chance alone” with them to carry out further abuse.

Recorder William Harbage QC, who judged the case, called Maxted’s crimes “despicable offences”.

Maxted was jailed for nine years and will remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life
