Pervert faces prison

A Rotherham sexual predator who paid to have sex with a child and described his texts to boys as ‘banter’ is facing a lengthy period in jail.

Charles Morgan, 47, has been found guilty of raping a teenage girl and 19 counts of sexual offences against five boys under the age of 17.

Morgan was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court of the offences, which took place in the Rotherham area over a seven-year period starting in the 1980s and a four-year-period during the last decade.

In addition to rape, his offences included indecent assault, sexual assault, sexual activity with a child and paying for the services of a child.

Morgan specifically targeted vulnerable young boys, one who was just 11 when the offending started. He also raped a teenage girl

The first victim came forward to police in June 2016. His interview identified further victims and an investigation was launched.

Morgan denied all the charges when interviewed. While he admitted exchanging sexually explicit text messages with one of the boys – which he described in court as “banter” – he denied that anything had ever happened.

Morgan was remanded into custody and will be sentenced on Friday 20 April at Sheffield Crown Court
