Eight years jail for ex-teacher

A former children’s home teacher has been jailed for eight years for indecency offences involving boys.

Colin Jeneson, 58, of Strommen, Norway, was convicted at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday on eight charges.

They concern incidents between 1969-76 while he was a teacher at Druids Heath Children’s Home in Aldridge and Tennal Assessment Centre in Harborne.

The case is part of Operation Thor, launched in 1999, which has so far resulted in eight convictions.

The prosecution followed a joint investigation by officers of Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Police. Aldridge was part of Staffordshire at the time of the original offences.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Dunning, of Staffordshire Police, said: “Jeneson totally abused his position of power and trust in a most despicable manner, taking advantage of vulnerable young boys in his care.

” We are extremely pleased that justice has been served, especially for the victims of abuse, many of whom have suffered years of trauma as a result of Jeneson’s actions.
