65-year-old jailed for sex offences on girl

A 65-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for repeated sexual activity with a teenage girl.

Roy Guest touched her on various occasions and once got her to perform a sex act on him.

At Nottingham Crown Court, he was jailed for a total of two-and-a-half years on four charges of sexual activity and a fifth charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The offences came to light after Guest tried to take his own life.

He was arrested and interviewed. The girl also gave her version of events.

Dawn Pritchard, prosecuting, said: “He said he didn’t see himself as a paedophile. He said he didn’t force her.”

Andrew Wesley, mitigating, said Guest had admitted the charges at a preliminary hearing.

Judge Michael Stokes QC told Guest, of Ruddington, he would have to sign the sex offenders’register on his release. He would also be disqualified from working with children.

“I hope you are deeply ashamed of your behaviour,” the judge told him.

“Your age is not a mitigating factor, it is a aggravating factor. As I said: You should have known better.”
