Paedophile is jailed for bigamy
A “conman and paedophile” has been jailed for marrying two women and deceiving two more.
American William Jordan, 41, who has at least 10 children, wove a web of lies to con his victims, a court heard.
Jordan, who married his first wife in 1992 and his second in 2002, was arrested by police near Oxford.
He was jailed for five years for bigamy, dishonesty offences, failing to register as a sex offender and illegally possessing a stun gun.
The court also heard how in 1997 he was convicted of three indecent assaults on a girl under the age of 13.
Sentencing Jordan, Judge Thomas Corrie at Oxford Crown Court, said: “You are a con man, a convicted paedophile and a bigamist.
“You are an inveterate exploiter of vulnerable women, not just financially but also emotionally.”
Jordan, a naturalised Briton, married his first British wife, Julie Cunningham, in 1992, going on to have five children with her, the court heard.
Ten years later he married Miss Turner Thomson, the mother of two more of his children who lives in Edinburgh, said prosecutor Sophie Eloquin.
Unbeknown to Miss Turner Thomson, Jordan’s real wife was living at nearby Gullane but she later moved to Lancashire.
Sex offender
Jordan also slept with his real wife’s nanny, having two children with her.
And in May 2005 he struck-up a relationship with Denise King, then based in Blackpool.
Jordan’s criminal activities only came to light after Ms King reported unauthorised transactions on her credit card of £1,000 and £500 to a Mercedes Benz dealership in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
Officers lay in wait at the car dealership and arrested Jordan on 11 November last year.
Jordan later admitted fraud charges in relation to his use of Miss King’s credit card and also pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to register his address as legally required by sex offenders.
He also admitted bigamy and possessing a stun gun illegally.
