A PAEDOPHILE who preyed on three young girls was jailed for 13 years.
Leslie Hurle, 50 of Fields Road, Oakfields, Cwmbran was found guilty of 15 charges of indecent assault and one of rape and one of indecency with girls under the age of 15.
Judge Roderick Denyer said: “This is one of the most unpleasant cases of its kind I have come across for a very long time.
“Anyone who saw one of the girls give evidence could not fail to realise how damaged she is.
“She lives with the consequences of your behaviour night and day and probably for the rest of her life.”
He said Hurle had exploited and abused the young girls who had been entitled to protection.
Judge Denyer added that in pleading not guilty Hurle received no credit for admitting the charges and he had given no indication of remorse.
Prosecutor Caroline Rees said he abused his three victims between 1993 and 1999.
The offences came to light she said in July when the three spoke to the police.
During the trial, the court heard of the catalogue of abuse, including leaving one of the girls crying after indecently assaulting her and making another watch a pornographic film and forced her to carry out an indecent act on him “or she would cause trouble.”
Ms Rees said he offered this girl rewards in the form of cigarettes, money and alcohol and sometimes he would force her to expose her breasts.
He made the second girl perform indecent acts on him and touch him.
“Always she would plead with him to stop,” said Ms Rees.
He once raped this girl she said and “bought her silence with rewards.”
His counsel Richard Twomlow said: “He knows he faces a long sentence.
“He tells me his life is in ruins. He denied these matters throughout.”
The court also heard that he had one previous conviction in 1974 for indecently assaulting a woman.
Hurle was found not guilty of one charge of rape, one of indecency with a child and one of indecent assault by the jury at Newport Crown court, on direction of the judge.
