A PAEDOPHILE jailed for life yesterday for a series of sickening attacks on young girls had been jailed in 2004 for downloading “filth” from the internet.
Cardiff crown court heard that Brian Clarke, 52, was jailed for five years in 2004 for downloading child pornography depicting abuse involving “animals, bondage, sado-masochism and violence of the worst sort.”
He was also convicted at the age of 23 for the indecent assault of young girl.
Brian Clarke, who had denied the offences, was told yesterday he will have to serve at least eleven years in prison before being eligible for parole.
Brian Clarke, formerly of Ringland, was found guilty of seven rapes, two attempted rapes and seven indecent assaults. He was cleared of one indecent assault.
His barrister Mary Parry-Evans told the court his current convictions were of a “historic nature”.
She said he had “tried to commit suicide twice as a result of this case”.
