Web paedophile jailed for attack on girl aged 11

A 24-YEAR-OLD man who befriended a young girl on the internet and went on to sexually assault her has been jailed.

Scott Spencer used Facebook to contact the 11-year-old girl and arranged to meet up with her in Long Eaton, in April.

Spencer, of Ilkeston Road, Nottingham, went to a number of shops with the girl and then took her to an area off the canal bank where he kissed and sexually assaulted her.

At Derby Crown Court, Spencer admitted sexual assault of a female under 13 and two counts of inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity.

He was sentenced to four years in prison.

He was also ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register for life, given a sexual offences prevention order for a period of 20 years and disqualified from working with children.

He denied a charge of witness intimidation and this was left on the file.
