Paedophile jailed after molesting seven-year-old boy

A paedophile who turned a seven-year-old boy into a “sexually precocious” child has been jailed for 18 months.

Keith Newman, 39, of Sefton Crescent, Sale, repeatedly molested the youngster after drinking and smoking cannabis.

The lad was so affected by his ordeal he now is now sexually advanced for his age and is able to talk about sexually explicit issues.

Newman was arrested two years after another child made a complaint about him.

That complaint was not pursued but the boy then told police what Newman had done to him.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Newman smirked in the dock and folded his arms as Judge Leslie Hull ordered him to sign the Sex Offender Register for ten years.

He was also banned from having any unsupervised access to children.

The Judge told Newman: “It seems clear the boy had been damaged and disturbed by what you did to him. He is sexually precocious and that is causing problems for him.”

Earlier Miss Joanna Rodikis prosecuting said the offences were uncovered in December 2006. The boy had not said anything earlier because he felt “threatened” by the defendant.

Newman had previous convictions for dishonesty and affray. In mitigation defence counsel Miss June Morris said her client had expressed remorse and suffered from depression.

Two women who had been weeping in the public gallery as details of the case were read thanked the judge for jailing Newman.
