Pervert had ‘haunting’ pictures of children as young as two
A PAEDOPHILE from Great Sankey, who downloaded thousands of images of children as young as two being sexually abused, has been jailed for 12 months.
Gregory William McEvoy, aged 35, of Sheringham Road, pleaded guilty to possessing 3,601 indecent images of children, aged between two and 12, in both still and video format.
On Friday, Warrington Crown Court heard that McEvoy’s name, home address, e-mail address and credit card details had been found on an “infamous” American child porn website.
Mark Connor, prosecuting, said that McEvoy had made three payments to websites: two of £29.95 and one of £49.95. For this he was allowed to use the websites for 90 days.
Mr Connor said that the police search at his Great Sankey home uncovered “haunting” indecent images of children, 14 of which had been printed out on A4 paper.
The court also heard that McEvoy had been using file-sharing software to share his collection of depraved images with other Internet perverts.
Michael Davies, defending, said that McEvoy’s interest in online adult pornography had escalated, leading him into this position.
He said that McEvoy “bitterly regretted” this.
Mr Davies said: “He has had a year of fearful waiting for this judgement.”
Judge Merfyn Hughes said: “It is inevitable that my judgement should be a custodial sentence.”
McEvoy will also be made to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the next ten years.
