Sex case bail

A sex offender is facing jail and tough conditions to stop him contacting young people.

Nigel Fisher had been due to be sentenced for possessing indecent pictures of children when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court.

But the case was adjourned for a psychiatric assessment and 39-year-old Fisher will return to court next month.

Judge Chris Ball QC said the prosecution should draw up proposals to prevent Fisher contacting young people.

Judge Ball said the prosecution should look at banning Fisher from using any device including a camera to take or store any image of any child aged under 16, banning him from accessing any internet chatroom, message service or any internet device to contact children, a ban on Fisher being in the company of any child aged under 16 without a parent or guardian present, and ordering him to allow access to any official responsible for carrying out checks on him.

Fisher had been committed to crown court for sentence by Colchester magistrates after admitting six charges of making indecent images of children and one charge of possessing an indecent picture of a child.

Judge Ball bailed Fisher, of Kings Quay Street, Harwich, while the assessment is prepared but warned him he faces prison.
