Paedophile jailed for five years

A PAEDOPHILE described as a ‘serious risk to children’ has been jailed for five years by the Royal Court.

Christopher Eugene Curtin (47) was jailed after admitting an indecent assault, procuring an act of gross indecency, and looking at child pornography on the internet.

The court heard that he had looked at almost 3,400 images, some involving children just a few months old, showing penetrative sex, sadism and bestiality.

Crown Advocate Michael O’Connell told the court that the offences came to light after the victim saw Curtin working in a toy shop, and contacted police following a press appeal for people who had suffered sexual abuse to come forward.

He said: ‘It is considered that he will always represent a risk to children. He is at a high risk of sexual reoffending and a high risk of harm to children.’
