North-east paedophile back behind bars

A north-east paedophile is back behind bars after being found with child sexual abuse images on a mobile phone he was banned from owning.

Cameron Anderson was placed on the sex offenders register for taking part in a series of sexually explicit conversations with a schoolgirl using an instant messaging service in 2008.

And, the following year, he was back in trouble when he manipulated an 11-year-old boy into exposing himself online.

On that occasion, he was banned from owning a mobile or computer.

The 34-year-old was finally jailed in 2014 for a string of offences against boys under 16 and for possessing 996 indecent images of children and 738 pornographic videos.

After being released, he was seen by police officers in Inverurie on June 23 this year and he told them he was on his way to see them to alert them to a new bank account.

While he was in the police station, officers noted he was wearing headphones and a closer inspection revealed they were coming out of a mobile telephone.

He was arrested and a later search of his home on School Road in Kintore found an Amazon Firestick which he was also banned from possessing.

An inspection of his phone also revealed indecent images of children were on it.

He told officers he had been in possession of the phone for six months and the Firestick for four months.

Anderson, of HMP Grampian, confessed to the offences during an appearance in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.

Fiscal depute Jamie Dunbar told the court: “There were 15 indecent images of children found, with seven category A (the most serious), two category B and six category C.”

Representing him, defence agent Peter Shepherd, revealed his client had been taken back to prison to serve an unexpired portion of his sentence and could not be released before March 2022.

He added that the 34-year-old cooperated fully with the police.

Sheriff Jack Brown jailed him for a year and placed him on the sex offenders register for ten years.

Paedophile jailed for five years

A sex offender who preyed on boys online has been locked up for five years.

Cameron Anderson, 30, was also handed an extended sentence of three years meaning he will face conditions and supervision on his release. He is also on the sex offender’s register indefinitely.

The court heard that fake social media accounts he operated where he pretended to be a teenage boy and girl gave him feelings of “power” and “sexual gratification”.

Anderson was also found with 996 indecent images of children and 738 videos.

Anderson, who was put under a sexual offences prevention order in 2009 at Stonehaven Sheriff Court, was being sentenced for 12 new offences which took place between October 1, 2012, and April 24.

He admitted breaching his sexual offences prevention order by being in possession of a mobile phone and computer equipment and having contact with children under 16 online.

He was also in possession of indecent images of children.

He asked boys under 16 years old questions on an internet chat site, and caused two of them to engage in sexual activity.

Defence agent Peter Shepherd said that Anderson would co-operate with whatever counselling was available to him while in jail.

Sheriff Graeme Napier told Anderson, of Beltie Cottages, Inchmarlo, Banchory: “You manipulated young children for your own sexual needs.”

PERVERT who preyed on young boys online could have his case referred to the High Court due to the “risk” he poses

Cameron Anderson, 30, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court for sentencing, however, his case was further deferred for a psychiatrist’s report.

Anderson was put under a sexual offences prevention order in 2009 at Stonehaven Sheriff Court banning him from speaking to or approaching children and forbidding him from having any access to the internet after he duped an 11-year-old boy into exposing himself online.

The previous year, he had been placed on the sex offenders’ register for taking part in sexually explicit conversations with a schoolgirl using an instant messaging service.

Earlier this month he admitted to 12 new offences which took place between October 1, 2012, and April 24.

He admitted breaching his sexual offences prevention order by being in possession of a mobile phone and computer equipment and having contact with children under 16 through Facebook and Skype.

Anderson also admitted being in possession of indecent images of children.

And he engaged in communication of a “sexual nature”, asking boys under the age of 16 sexual questions on an internet chat site.

He also “intentionally caused” two of the boys to engage in sexual activity with each other and to carry out sex acts over a webcam.

Sheriff Graeme Napier told Anderson: “You are facing the possibility of a very lengthy sentence and it being an extended sentence.

“I have to consider the possibility that the risk you pose, it has to be referred to the high court.”

Sheriff Napier told Anderson, whose address was given in court as 11 Beltie Cottages, Inchmarlo, Banchory, that he would continue to be remanded in custody.

He will return to court next month.

Man ‘posed as youngster online’

A man who posed as a youngster to try to lure schoolboys to expose themselves online has avoided jail.

Cameron Anderson, 24, admitted sending inappropriate messages in Huntly and Inchmarlo to young boys on a website.

Sheriff Annella Cowan placed Anderson on probation for three years and ordered he carry out 100 hours of community service.

He was also put on the sex offenders register for three years at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

The schoolboys became alarmed when Anderson made lewd suggestions because they were too young to understand them.

Anderson, described as a prisoner in Aberdeen, was caught by police after the intervention of a child online exploitation monitoring team.

Sheriff Cowan said a custodial sentence may not protect the public because it would be a comparably short sentence.

She said: “I bear in mind you have a previous conviction for a matter of a similar nature.

“It is important to note that the internet monitoring service is to be commended for protecting children from people like you.”
