Paedophile “hates himself” for indecent assault on seven-year-old boy
A PAEDOPHILE who indecently assaulted a seven-year-old boy in Northfleet says he “hates himself” for what he has done.
Jason Love, 41, (pic above) from Ipswich, was jailed for two years after admitting 11 counts of abuse from more than 20 years ago.
The former bus driver pleaded guilty to seven counts of indecency with a child and four counts of indecent assault at Maidstone Crown Court today. (March 29)
The court heard how Love groomed the youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, between 1986 and 1990 when he was aged between seven and 11.
Love, who was aged between 15 and 19 at the time, would visit him in his bedroom and encourage the child to engage in sexual activities, the court was told.
On one occasion, the victim remembers being told he “would be able to fly like superman” if he carried out a sex act on Love.
Prosecutor David Povall said: “When told by Love he wasn’t to tell anyone and it was something special between the two of them that made sense to him.
“The victim didn’t understand what was happening and had no experience or knowledge of what went on – he was excited by the attention.”
When asked by Judge Michael Lawson whether he was remorseful, Love said: “I understand I ruined his life and I can’t change that but I’m sorry.
“I know he is going to hate me for the rest of his life and I hate myself for what I have done to him.”
The victim, now in his 30s, reported Love to police last year after suffering flashbacks from his childhood that affected his daily life.
On sentencing, Judge Lawson said: “Why you did it is a matter for you to work out but the consequence is a ruined life.
“There’s nothing I can do that repairs the damage and this is something you’ll have to live with.”
Love was jailed for two years and disqualified from working with children until further notice.
