Poole man jailed for offence over videos sent on Facebook

A man who sent two videos on Facebook that were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character has been jailed.

Calum Anderson, 23, appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced for the communications offence along with assault by beating and criminal damage matters.

At the hearing on Friday, July 21, the defendant whose address was given as Johnston Road, Poole, was locked up for nine weeks.

Court papers stated the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence was justified.

The defendant previously committed a similar offence against the same victim, which he received a community order for and he had not complied with it.

“This was a particularly nasty offence in nature,” the court papers said.

A car window was damaged on July 19 in Poole to the value of £650, while the assault took place on the same day.

The offence related to two videos sent on Facebook on May 12.

Anderson pleaded guilty to the three offences.

He received an 18-month restraining order and he was ordered to pay £250 compensation.
