Paedophile pensioner aged 77 caught with hundreds of indecent images including some of babies
A pensioner was found in possession of more than 300 images of child abuse involving children as young as one year old. As a result of his perverted behaviour he has been disowned by members of his family.
Ray Messham, 77, was visited by police at his home in Buckley, Flintshire, after intelligence was received.
His computer was seized and examined which showed the presence of 336 images of indecent and prohibited images of children.
A sentencing hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court on Thursday heard the children depicted in the images were between one and 14 years old. Prosecutor Karl Scholz said there were 95 Category A images, 78 Category B images, 159 Category C images, and four prohibited/pseudo images
The defendant, of Bistre Close, later pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children
Messham was sentenced to eight months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
He was ordered to carry out 45 sessions of the Maps For Change programme and to £420 costs and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order and sex offender notification requirements for seven years.
