Paedophile arranged to meet girl, 12, at railway station

A paedophile has admitted trying to meet a 12-year-old girl at a Derbyshire railway station with the intention of having sexual activity with her.

Over a number of days, Adam Hubbard began talking to the youngster online before arranging to meet her at Belper railway station on June 16, this year.

But unbeknown to the 38-year-old, the underage victim was actually an undercover police officer posing as the girl in order to snare those who seek out children for sex.

Appearing over a video-link from HMP Nottingham into Derby Crown Court on Monday morning, July 17, Hubbard pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • Attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child between June 13 and 17.

  • Attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act between the same dates.

  • Arranging to facilitate communication with a child for the commission of a sexual act.

  • Attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

William Bennett, his barrister, successfully applied for a psychiatric report ahead of a pre-sentence report being prepared to assess if his client is or isn’t regarded as dangerous in the eyes of the law.

Judge Robert Egbuna remanded Hubbard, of Derby Road, Belper, into custody until a later date when the sentence should take place
