Man given Order for Lifelong Restriction for carrying out abuse which spanned 36 years

A man has been given an Order for Lifelong Restriction, along with a custodial sentence of six years and six months, for a series of sexual offences and abuse against women and girls

Kevin Scott, 54, committed the offences on a number of females, between 1985 and 2021

The court heard that Scott continued to deny carrying out the crimes and blamed one underage girl for seducing him.

After committing rape as a teenager he went on to attack another woman in 2003 at an address in Blackburn, in West Lothian, whom he pushed, throttled and sat on.

He went on to assault another adult victim to the danger of her life after pinning her down and strangling her at houses in Whitburn between 2004 and 2010.

He also preyed on a young girl between 2006 and 2010 and began to molest the child and got her to carry out sex acts before subjecting her to rape during a four-year period of abuse at a house in West Lothian. The abuse happened when she was aged between five and nine.

In 2012 and 2013 in Stranraer, he contacted an underage girl over social media and made sexualised comments to her and exposed himself.

He also met up with the teenager and engaged the schoolgirl in sexual inetrcourse

In 2016 he raped an adult woman at an address in Blackridge, in West Lothian, after restraining her and pushing her face into a pillow. He also abducted the woman by locking her in a house and detaining her against her will.

Scott went on to carry out sex acts on another underage girl and to rape her in 2019 and 2020 at houses in Tillicoultry and in a Ford Transit van.

He also repeatedly tracked the girl’s movements and listened into her conversations after accessing software on her phone.

During 2019 to 2021 he also repeatedly monitored and tracked the location of a woman and made out that she was being watched over by spirits.

He was convicted by a jury of ten offences in February 2023 and sentenced yesterday, Wednesday 12 July, 2023,  at the High Court in Edinburgh.
