Suffolk piano teacher sentenced for indecent assault on a boy

A piano teacher has been sentenced following an indecent assault on a boy in Goring-on-Thames.

Fiona Carrier, aged 61, pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, July 6, and was sentenced to a year and two months in prison, suspended for two years.

She was found not guilty of five further counts of indecent assault on the same victim at the same hearing. It follows a week-long trial which took place last month.

The court was told that Carrier, who was then in her mid-30s, had admitted sexually touching the boy as they sat on a sofa in her home and having issed him multiple times

Prosecutors had claimed that Carrier repeatedly had sex with the boy at her home in Goring.

Together with a number of his contemporaries, he had taken to visiting the property in order to play music.

Carrier abused her position of trust as a piano teacher by indecently assaulting a teenage boy at her home in Goring-on-Thames in the late 1990s.

She taught music at £20,000-a-year private school in Berkshire – Blue Coat School, Reading

Carrier, of Bucklebury, Berkshire, will be on the sex offender register for 10 years.

She must complete up to 35 rehabilitation activity requirement days with the probation service and abide by a restraining order preventing her from contacting the victim.
