Torquay paedophile jailed for sexual assaults on children

A man has been jailed for 14 years after being convicted on seven counts of sexual offences against children.

Stephen Cox, 44, of Hillesdon Road, Torquay, was found guilty of the offences that took place in the 2010s.

A jury at Exeter Crown Court found Cox guilty of all seven counts. The trial followed a full and protracted investigation by detectives.

Today, Cox was sentenced to nine years in prison plus five years on extended licence 

He was convicted of the following offences:

  • Two counts of sexual assault of a child under thirteen years

  • Three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child

  • One count of causing or inciting a child under thirteen years to engage in sexual activity

  • A count of sexual assault of a child under thirteen years

He will also be put on the Sex Offenders Register and issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, in both cases for life.
