Man jailed for failure to comply with sex offenders register
Police have warned that failing to comply with the conditions of a court conviction could land you in prison.
It comes after a registered sex offender received a further conviction for breaching his notification requirements.
On 17 May 2022, Gary Ahearne of Crawley travelled from Luton Airport to Poland but failed to notify police of his intended travel, as required by an active Sexual Harm Prevention Order he received in July 2021.
The 43-year-old, of no fixed address, was subsequently charged with failure to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders register.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and at Lewes Crown Court on 14 April May, he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
