Woman escapes rapist’s London home after meeting on dating app and is found crying in street

A man who raped a woman he met on a dating app and left her crying in the street has pleaded guilty.

Ryan Mulhern, 41, of Hornsey Lane, Haringey met with the victim on March 21 in Haringey after inviting her over to his house after they spoke on a dating app.

While there, he raped her despite her repeatedly telling him to stop.

The victim, aged 25, was able to flee the house and was found crying by a member of the public on Hornsey Lane.

She told them that she had just been raped and police were called at 9.50pm to attend the scene, with the victim taken to a Haven the next day to be given specialised support.

Officers with the Met Police searched several addresses looking for Mulhern, initially without success. Several teams were deployed in a resource-intensive manhunt using a variety of tactics to locate him.

This eventually led to his arrest in Islington one day later on Wednesday, March 22.

He was charged and remanded in custody with the investigation team working tirelessly to secure evidence to remove him from the streets.

During an appearance at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, April 21, he pleaded guilty to rape and attempted rape and will be sentenced at a later date.
