Paedophile who planned to sexually abuse ‘boy’ over a ‘weekend of abuse’ jailed

A paedophile caught in a police sting has been jailed after making plans to sexually abuse a 12-year-old boy.

Peter Tyndall, 71, was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison at Taunton Crown Court on Friday (January 27) after being caught by police officers trying to make plans to sexually abuse a child.

Tyndall, of Old Farm Road, Nether Stowey, believed he was exchanging messages with a child for a period of time between July 19 and August 10, 2022.

Unknown to him, he was in fact talking to a covert police officer.

Avon and Somerset Police officers working on the case said Tyndall sent “sickening and horrific” messages about his plans with the child which described a “weekend of sexual abuse”.

He had purchased gifts and confectionary in anticipation of meeting the child, but was instead met by officers who arrested him

Tyndall pleaded guilty to one count of arranging the commission of an offence to incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Along with his jail sentence, Tyndall is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
