Paedophile delivery driver had nearly 20,000 sick indecent images of children
A paedophile has avoided jail despite being caught with nearly 20,000 indecent images of children.
Some of David Howle’s sick collection showed young children being raped.
Howle, 42, of no fixed abode but from the Camborne and Redruth area, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence having pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children.
Prosecuting the case, Jason Beal described how police attended Howle’s then-home in Camborne due to suspicions he was viewing indecent material.
Police seized numerous devices and asked Howle if they’d find anything illegal, to which he replied no comment.
The devices were examined and found to contain 38 Category A images – the most serious category showing children being raped – 94 Category B images and a staggering 18,707 Category C images. The images were downloaded between 2014 and 2020.
In mitigation it was heard that Howle, who worked as a takeaway delivery driver, regrets his actions and has no previous convictions.
Sentencing, Recorder M Galloway said: “You are 42 and have no previous convictions. On April 29 2020, a warrant was executed at your house and various equipment seized.”
Recorder Galloway said that the examination found a huge number of images, as well as search terms linked to child abuse images and tools to hide his criminality.
Recorder Galloway added: “It’s obvious to anyone you have a substantially unhealthy interest in children. Even when the material was found, you answered no comment. This was a large number of images that were subsequently stored.
Recorder Galloway sentenced him to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He must complete a mental health treatment programme, a rehabilitation activity requirement and 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was made subject of a sexual harm prevention order.
