A man who gained sexual gratification from viewing indecent images of children has avoided a prison sentence

Mark Smith, 36 (who was previously known as Darren Rawlings) of Folkestone appeared at Canterbury Crown Court where he was convicted of a string of offences relating indecent images of children.

The court was told that Smith was arrested on the 3rd of January 2021.

His internet capable devices were analysed by police, and they found over 3,000 videos and pictures of children which covered all categories of indecency.

Police also discovered a number of beastiality images which showed humans engaging in sexual activity with animals

Up on further inspection, it was revealed that Smith had distributed many of the images to other paedophiles online

The judge handed Smith a community order and placed him on the sex offenders register for five years.

A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed which is designed to restrict Smiths internet use and unsupervised contact with any child aged under 16
