Predatory rapist could die behind bars after lengthy jail term

A “despicable” serial sex offender who committed a whole string of serious offences, including rape and indecent assault has been jailed for 20 years.

Anthony Bielby, 65, faces the prospect of many years behind bars until he is finally considered for release – and could even die in prison.

The police have welcomed the prison sentence, one of the longest to be seen at Hull Crown Court, and hope that it will be of some comfort to the victim.

Bielby, of Queen Street, Withernsea, was convicted by a jury after a trial of four offences of rape.

He was also convicted of six offences of indecent assault and one matter of indecency with a child

Bielby will have to register his details as a sex offender indefinitely
