Police discover Oldham man’s large stash of images of children

A Royton man has been sentenced after police discovered his large collection of sexual images of children.

In a raid in October 2020 police seized four items belonging to Clifford Farrand of Buttermere Grove.

These included laptops and hard drives containing images of young children.

The court heard from prosecutor Phillip Hall that Farrand’s collection went back as far as five years and that a ‘high volume’ of images were uncovered by police.

The 64-year-old appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday (August 10) after pleading guilty to making indecent photographs of children

Farrand was given a community order of 18 months and subjected to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) for five years.

He was also given a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
