Convicted paedophile filmed himself performing sex act by open front door
A convicted sex offender filmed himself performing a sex act by his open front door.
Jamie Sharkey was also caught with a stash of indecent images of children on his phone, while messages revealed his sick desire to engage in sexual activity with a “hot schoolgirl”.
Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday, Tuesday, that the 33-year-old was previously handed a two-year community order after being convicted of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting sexual communications with a child in November 2019.
He was also given a sexual harm prevention order, the requirements of which included a ban on deleting his internet history. But on May 7 last year, police “had cause to attend his home” on Mellors Close in Southport.
There, a support worker present “advised the officer that the defendant had deleted the internet search history on his mobile”. His iPhone was seized as a result, and analysis subsequently confirmed this to be the case.
Also found on the device were 10 indecent images of children – including one category A picture, showing the most serious forms of abuse – and an extreme pornographic image involving a horse.
Meanwhile, Sharkey had videoed himself masturbating while sitting on the floor of his hallway with the front door open and looking at at the street and car park opposite.
Concerning notes were also discovered, including one which read “I want a hot schoolgirl to suck my d***”. Jamie Baxter, prosecuting, told the court: “We don’t know what’s missing or what might have been there.”
Sharkey admitted possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent images, possession of extreme pornographic images and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. He was handed a 16-month imprisonment suspended for two years.
Sentencing, Judge Garrett Byrne said: “The order was imposed to protect the public from you, in particular young girls. I don’t know if you understand this, but every such image represented an abused child.
“Your interest in them serves to fuel that foul market and encourage their production. You appear unable or unwilling to stop this activity.”
Of the video, Judge Byrne added: “This was plainly a distorted attempt by you to gain the attention of young children. Although you can distinguish between right and wrong, your sexual urges appear to override your rational thought process.
Sharkey was given a new amended 10-year SHPO preventing him from having unsupervised contact with children plus a notification requirement lasting the same period.
He must complete a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 50 days and pay a victim surcharge, while Judge Byrne also ordered the forfeiture of his phone.
